Child Health Experts (Our PEAP)

Making child health education and literacy fun is an important goal for us, but making it accurate is essential. We are building a global panel of leading pediatric health care experts to insure that all of our material meets the highest of medical standards. Our Pediatric Education Advisory Panel (PEAP) consists of leading physicians, nurses, and health educators from around the U.S. and beyond. We are continuing to expand our expert pediatric panel to make certain that Health Nuts Media content remains continually on the leading edge of children’s health information and education.

Lt. Col. Patrick Baker, RN

Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Baker, RN, currently serves as the Administrative Director for Patient Care Services at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. An award winning Ohio Air National Guard/United States Air Force officer who served with distinction in Iraq, Patrick is an author and national speaker/consultant for Shared Governance promoting nursing excellence. He is a past board member of Cincinnati Children’s Heart Hospital.

Dan Feiten, MD

Dan is co-founder of award-winning Greenwood Pediatrics in Englewood, Colorado. Always leading edge, he is the founder of Pediatric Web, PediaPage. and MedSecure TeleServices helping drive Health 2.0 solutions for improving patient care and supporting provider/patient relationships. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Amy Gleason, RN

An experienced emergency room nurse, Amy turned her attention to the electronic medical record field over 15 years ago. Her technical prowess and design awareness have shown through as she created and directed development of EMRs/EHRs with industry-leading features, functionality, and usability . Recently, she has experienced health care through a child’s eyes as her daughter has battled a rare auto-immune disease.

Barbara Howard, MD

Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and co-creator of CHADIS, the Child Health and Development Interactive System, Barbara also co-founded the Center for Promotion of Child Development through Primary Care. Dr. Howard is past president of the international Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics.

Barry Lachman, MD, MPH

Dr. Lachman has been a long-time champion of health services for the underserved. (As a medical student, he was one of the two originators of the National Health Service Corps.) A recognized expert in asthma, health disparities, disease management, and community health, he is presently Medical Director of Parkland Community Health Plan in Dallas, Texas; president of the Asthma Coalition of Texas; and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the UT Southwestern Medical Center. In 2008, he was named by Managed Health Care Executive as one of the Leaders of Disease Management.

Karen McCoy, MD

Karen is Chief of the Section of Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center, Chief of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. She has particular expertise in asthma and cystic fibrosis. Listed, Best Doctors in America.

Sidney Nesbitt, MD

Founder of Muthiaiga Pediatrics Clinic, Sid is also the director of the Pan African Endocrinology and Diabetes Fellowship Training Programme for African pediatricians sponsored by the World Diabetes Foundation based at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya.

Lawrence Rosen, MD

A nationally recognized expert in Pediatric Integrative Medicine, Dr. Rosen is a founding member and current Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Complementary and Integrative Medicine. Author, editor, columnist, “green” office design expert, Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at UMDNJ/New Jersey Medical School, and MIT alum, Larry still maintains a busy primary care pediatric practice.

Raymond Sturner, MD

Ray is a developmental-behavioral pediatrician and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and former Director of the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship Training Program at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has been the principal investigator of some 65 “grant years” of research and demonstration projects including the development of the Child Health and Development Interactive System or CHADIS.

Heather Boyle Townsend

One of the country’s premier health educators, Heather brings an extensive knowledge of the unique blend of engaging patient education with technical solutions derived from 23 years of experience and diverse leadership roles in health care patient education and health information technology.

Pamela R. Yoder, MD, PhD

Pam is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, and licensed psychologist. Known to millions as “Dr. Pam”, the pioneering women’s health editor of WebMD, she is now focused on transforming healthcare via technology. She brings a unique perspective for effective health care issues communications from her wealth of experience at leading medical schools and computer science universities as well as her roles as regional quaternary care director/provider, pharma senior physician executive, and health-related social networking leadership.
