Health Nut Hal: Keep It Clean, Gene

Email

Hal could not believe his eyes: his good friend, Gene, just walked away.

Also known as “Bean Gene” for his love of lima beans and his ability to release after a good bean meal (if you get the odorous drift), Gene seemed unaware of Hal’s bug-eyed stare as he walked out the bathroom door.

“Hold the horse up, Hapless,” called Hal.

Gene stopped the restroom door just as it was about to close and stuck his head back in. “Huh? You mean me, man?” he asked.

Hal was still looking sort of bewildered, but his face began to change into more of a scowl. “Yeah, I mean you, boy,” he growled.

“Wassamatta U, Bullwinkle?” Gene asked Hal.

“Don’t…don’t…do not tell me you just did what you just did,” Hal grumbled.

“Did? What’d I did?” asked Gene, sort of lost-looking and -sounding.

“Boyo, you just gotta get your tooty patootie back in here and belly up to that sink,” commanded Hal, now stearn-faced.

“Wha…oh…boy, really? I’m clean. I just washed before we came to camp,” Gene replied.

“Dude, you just used the restroom and you’re heading out to cook hot dogs and S’mores and pass around the chips ‘n stuff. No way do I wanna eat your cookin’ if you ain’t been washin’! No way, José. You use the restroom; you wash. Don’t be touchin’ your stuff and touchin’ anything else. Jeez!” Hal fussed.

“OK, OK!” Gene whined as he stuck his hands under the faucet after he rather begrudgingly turned the faucet on. “Man, you’re a germ freak, Hal.”

“Call me what you want, but I want a fun, full week at camp. I don’t need any unclean Gene to spread extra germs around and get me headed off to the nurse’s cabin. I’m here for fun, not infection,” said Hal.

Keep It Clean

“OK, OK, OK…I’m washing!” Gene submitted.

“Boy, between you and Sal, I gotta keep my hand sanitizer around at all times,” Hal stated.

“Huh? What’s Sal got to do with the price of tuna in Timbuktu?” questioned Gene.

“Oh, just a similar conversation I had with him not so long ago in a similar restroom. Don’t worry about it…just wash them hands, man,” Hal exclaimed.

“OK, OK, OK…I said it…and I am. I’m washing, Hal, I’m washing!” Gene said with some exclamation.
