November 10, 2011, Los Angeles – It’s official: Cedars-Sinai, the world-renowned Los Angeles “hospital of the stars”, has now become a Health Nut. Well, they’ve officially become a Health Nuts Media client, that is!
We’re very happy to add this prestigious institution to the growing family of healthcare providers who recognize the value of combining high quality animation, entertainment, and easy-to-understand healthcare education to their arsenal for enhancing health education and literacy, patient outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
Cedars-Sinai is a non-profit hospital and research institution delivering world-class care to patients from around the world. With more than 2,000 physicians in every clinical specialty, 10,000 employees, 2,000 volunteers and 15,000 fundraising support group members, they are known for providing the highest quality patient care that modern medicine has to offer.
As the largest academic medical center in the western United States, they’re also training the next generation of physicians, researchers and allied health professionals, with more than 350 residents and fellows participating in over 60 graduate medical education programs.
Their success is reflected in patient satisfaction scores, increasing clinical performance initiatives, excellent medical outcomes, ongoing research and academic programs, and national designations and awards. The highlights of these rankings include:
U.S. News & World Report Ranking
In the 2011-12 U.S. News & World Report rankings, Cedars-Sinai was named one of America’s best hospitals. Of the 4,825 U.S. hospitals, only 140 were ranked in at least one specialty.
NRC’s Consumer Choice Award
For more than 20 years, Los Angeles area residents have named Cedars-Sinai the “Most Preferred Hospital for All Health Needs” in National Research Corporation’s (NRC) annual Healthcare Market Guide survey.
Cedars-Sinai has earned the prestigious NRC Consumer Choice Award for its high quality and image rankings every year since the award program’s inception.
Top-Rated Physician Groups in Los Angeles
Cedars-Sinai Medical Group and Cedars-Sinai Health Associates, independent physician associations (IPA), both ranked among the top 10 physician groups in Southern California by Integrated Health Care Associates (IHA), a California leadership group of health plans, physician groups, and health systems. They were selected from 225 participating physician groups by the IHA based on their provision of recommended care, patient satisfaction, and investment in information technologies (IT) that support quality care.
Magnet Excellence in Nursing
In 2008 Cedars-Sinai was re-awarded the Magnet Excellence in Nursing designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Cedars-Sinai is one of only six hospitals to receive this designation three times, which recognizes commitment to nursing development and quality care. In 2000 Cedars-Sinai became the first medical center in Southern California to receive Magnet designation. The ANCC found that Cedars-Sinai’s nursing services “represent the highest standards in the nation and internationally.”
